Grand Prix Seattle is just over a month away, and players from around the world will be descending on our home city to compete in Legacy and Standard. We happen to have one of the most active Legacy communities in the nation, so we thought we’d welcome our out-of-town guests with a very special pre-GP tournament.
On Wednesday, April 4th, Mox Boarding House Bellevue will be hosting Duel for Duals: our largest Legacy tournament ever! The tournament will begin at 11 AM and will feature seven rounds of Swiss and a cut to Top 8. Competitive REL will be in effect, so don’t forget to bring a decklist!
Prizes are as follows:
1st place: Four Revised Underground Seas (or Store Credit equivalent)
2nd place: Two Revised Volcanic Islands
3rd & 4th place: Two Revised Tropical Islands
5th – 8th place: One Revised Tundra
9th – 16th place: $100 Store Credit
17th – 32nd place: $60 Store Credit
Entry is $60, and preregistration is available here.
According to Mox Event Coordinator and Level 2 Judge Frank Stanley, this event represents a return to form for us. “Years back, before we moved to the PPTQ/RPTQ system, we could look forward to having what amounted to mini-cons every month or so from stores in the area,” he says. Whenever Card Kingdom hosted a PTQ, “we had multiple rooms and HUGE sides, one of which was a Legacy side event with duals to the Top 8. Outside of stuff like Rags to Riches, there have been very few tournaments in the area with product prizes, and with this Grand Prix, I thought this would be an excellent time to try and go big.”
Reception has been extremely positive so far, and preregistration spots are filling up quickly. Sign up today, and help us kick off an unforgettable weekend of Magic!
