From 2006-2007, Magic: The Gathering released three sets that would change the game as we know it. Time Spiral, Planar Chaos, and Future Sight celebrated the past, present, and future of Magic, with throwbacks to classic cards, twists on popular themes, and inventive new designs that foreshadowed where the game might be headed.
If you weren’t around to experience the original Time Spiral block, you can relive the Magic with Time Spiral Remastered — a set brings together some of the greatest hits of this influential period in the game’s history.
Time Spiral Remastered is available now at Card Kingdom. Read on for more information about this innovative set!
What is a “Remastered” Set?
Time Spiral Remastered is the first “remastered” set created for tabletop play. Previously, Wizards of the Coast has rereleased cards from Tempest block on Magic Online under the name Tempest Remastered, and more recently, they’ve remastered the Amonkhet and Kaladesh blocks for MTG Arena.
These remastered sets have consisted of cards from their original blocks, distilled down to the most influential and essential cards for Constructed and Limited play. Tempest Remastered, Amonkhet Remastered, and Kaladesh Remastered were designed to be drafted, and the latter two contributed powerful cards to Arena‘s Historic format. Similarly, Time Spiral Remastered boasts an excellent draft environment, while providing sought-after reprints for collectors and fans of non-rotating formats like Commander, Legacy and Pauper.
Timeshifted Cards Return
The most exciting feature of Time Spiral Remastered is its “timeshifted” cards. These cards are an homage to the timeshifted cards in the original Time Spiral set — pre-Mirrodin-era cards reprinted with a new hourglass expansion symbol. Much like The List today, timeshifted cards were a carefully curated subset of cards, and because there were 121 cards in the subset, each one was incredibly rare.
A new batch of hand-picked timeshifted cards appear in packs of Time Spiral Remastered. But this time, there’s a twist: each timeshifted card is from the Modern era of Magic, and each card has been reprinted in the pre-Mirrodin card frame for the first time.
Additionally, the Buy-a-Box Promo for Time Spiral Remastered is a new printing of Lotus Bloom, featuring the card’s original Time Spiral promo art in a pre-Mirrodin frame.
Note: Buy-a-Box Promo cards are available exclusively through local game stores; Time Spiral Remastered booster boxes preordered from Card Kingdom do not contain Buy-a-Box Promos.
What products are available?
Time Spiral Remastered features fewer unique products than other recent Magic sets. Draft Boosters of Time Spiral Remastered are the only sealed products available for the set — that means no Collector, Set, or Theme Boosters this time around.
