Since 1999, Card Kingdom has brought Magic to the world and…
Wait… It’s 2019… That’s twenty years since we first opened… Someone cue the music! 🎉
This October, we’re celebrating our 20th anniversary in style with a month of special events, giveaways, streams, and so much more! It’s so exciting to see how our company has grown from that small basement in Seattle to a team nearly 300 strong, all proud to make CK the best place to buy Magic: The Gathering, period. This month is a time to recognize where we’ve been, how we got here, and where we’re going next.
The Card Kingdom community is the best around, and we’re so lucky to have a group of fans united by a passion for Magic. You’ve played a huge part in making us the company we are today, and this month is our chance to say thank you to the Magic community.
To get everyone in on the fun, we’re doing special giveaways and prizes through the month of October. Starting on October 7, all orders will include our first widely-released foil token featuring a fan-favorite creature: squirrels! And if you interact with Card Kingdom on social media or watch our Twitch streams this month, you’ll have a chance to receive even more special gifts: booster boxes, packs, limited-edition pins, custom-made Card Kingdom letterman jackets, and more! Keep an eye on our social media channels for your chance to win prizes and get in on the fun.
We’re treating our community to special events and streams all October long! Let’s go over the highlights.
Local Game Show
CK20 festivities officially kick off on October 7 at twitch.tv/cardkingdom as we host the return of everyone’s favorite Magic: The Gathering-themed game show, Local Game Show! We’ll have four players competing head-to-head in a battle of wits to determine what is fact and what is fiction for your entertainment. Our contestants are:
- Magic streamer MTGNerdGirl
- Former Magic Community Manager Mike Robles
- Card Kingdom Product Designer Chris VanMeter
- Magic designer Gavin Verhey
Magic streamer and commentator TJ Rogers will be returning as our host, and he’ll be joined by Card Kingdom commentator Michael Tessier.
Come see the event in person at Mox Boarding House Seattle or check out the stream starting at 6:00 P.M. PT.
October 7 is also the first day of fundraising for our annual Magic charity event, The Chalice. We’re doubling the number of competitors in this year’s event which will feature returning veterans and new faces. The Chalice will feature:
- The Professor
- Chris VanMeter
- Michelle Rapp
- Meghan Wolff
- Dana Fischer
- The Asian Avenger
- Melissa DeTora
- Brad Nelson
- Brian Braun-Duin
- Ryan Spain
- Ashlen Rose
- Graham Stark
- Tappy Toe Claws
- April King
- 2018 Community Chalice Winner Matt Anders
Each player will have three weeks to raise as much as they can for SeriousFun Children’s Network, the global community of free camps and programs for children battling serious illnesses. The fundraiser culminates in a weekend of gathering and giving at Mox Boarding House Bellevue: we’ll be hosting a public Modern tournament on Saturday, October 26, and the main event will be held on Sunday, October 27. We’ll have more information on the Card Kingdom Blog in the coming weeks so you can learn more about the tournament and how you can support your favorite competitors.
Surprises All Month Long
And there’s so much more! We’ve got an Ask Me Anything with Card Kingdom founders John and Damon Morris, a special Crack-A-Pack stream with Throne of Eldraine Collector Boosters, and special editions of our regular Twitch programming like CK Plays and CK Draws. There are so many people to recognize as we look back on the past twenty years. We’re so excited to celebrate with you!
