New Card Kingdom Streams for 2019

Card KingdomLivestreams

2019 is upon us, and with it, we here at Card Kingdom are upping our game on Twitch!

That’s right – if you weren’t already aware, we stream Magic content 3-4 days a week at twitch.tv/cardkingdom. Here’s a look at our current lineup:

  • Legacy from our Seattle store every Monday at 6:30 p.m. Pacific.
  • CK Plays, our Arena (and occasionally MTGO) variety stream, every Wednesday from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Pacific.
  • Modern from our Bellevue store every Thursday at 6:30 p.m. Pacific.
  • Occasional Saturday marquee events from our stores (Rags to Riches Pauper tournaments, Legacy/Modern 1K’s), usually starting at noon Pacific.

That’s a decent amount of MTG streaming, but we decided that we can do more. A lot more, as it turns out, as we’re essentially going to be doubling our output each week. Here’s a quick overview of our new recurring shows.

CK Pauper

Mondays from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Pacific. (Starts January 7th)

Magic is a lot of fun, but it can also be expensive. For the cost of a competitive Modern deck, you could put a down payment on a decent used car. For Legacy, you could buy the used car. A Vintage deck could get you your own small dealership.

And then, there’s Pauper! Pauper used to be an online-only format, but a recent increase in paper events (including ours!) has made Pauper more popular than ever.

Normally, when a format gets a boost in popularity, all the decks and staple cards in that format see a matching jump in price. Good news: even with some price hikes, your average Pauper deck will still only set you back the cost of a meal for two at a nice restaurant.

Each week, our very own Chris VanMeter will take you on a tour through the format, picking a deck and running it through its paces. Welcome to one of the most accessible Magic formats – because you don’t need the money of a prince to play Pauper.

CK Draws

1st and 3rd Tuesdays of each month, 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. Pacific. (Starts January 8th)

We here at Card Kingdom always strive to give our customers the best service we can. A while ago, we started drawing custom tokens for folks who requested them with their order.

Turns out, we have some pretty talented artists in our Fulfillment department, and the custom tokens went over like gangbusters. We have continued making custom tokens ever since, even gathering some of our more popular requests into our Sketch Pack.

On CK Draws, we’re giving the community a look into the process of making these tokens. On the first and third Tuesday of every month, come hang out with one of our artists as they tackle a few token requests and chat with the audience.

CK Battles

Last Tuesday of each month, from 1:30 p.m. to 3 p.m. Pacific. (Starts January 29th)

If you love Card Kingdom Battle Decks, mark your calendar for the last Tuesday of each month!

Battle Decks are 60-card, preconstructed decks featuring tons of old Magic favorites and hidden gems. These decks don’t really fit into any official format…unless you count FUN as a format! Battle Decks are the perfect way to get some quick, casual games in or play with friends who may be new to Magic.

We come out with new or updated Battle Decks on the first of each month, and on CK Battles, we’ll give you a sneak peek at the next month’s offerings. Come join Battle Deck designers Chris VanMeter and Justin Treadway and see how these decks look in action.

CK Builds

Thursdays from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. Pacific. (Starts January 10th)

MTG Arena is looking to be a big part of Magic’s future, and we’re going along for the ride.

The introduction of Ranked play on MTG Arena is starting to change the way folks go about deckbuilding. How do you build a Standard deck when sideboarding isn’t an option?

CK Builds is going to tackle that question head-on. Join Chris Cornejo every week as he works on ranking up on Arena. He’ll take everything from established archetypes to wild brews into Ranked play to see how they fare.

That’s what we’ve got coming up in 2019 – and that’s just the regularly occurring shows. We still have plenty of fun one-shots up our sleeve, and we keep coming up with new ideas all the time.

Be sure to follow us on Twitch, and come hang out with us all year long!
